Lamp Shade Covering w. fabric Pattern?

In our new house, there is a chandelier in the dining room that I dislike. However, to be MM and to decorate DD's bedroom, we are going to repaint it and rehang it in her room (vaulted ceiling). The light has 6 lights and there are shades too.

I want to cover the shades in a coordinating fabric from her color pallate.

My question is, do you know a pattern I can use to properly cut fabric to fit and cover the shades? They are conical shaped. Like this, except white...

Re: Lamp Shade Covering w. fabric Pattern?

  • Just make a pattern from one of the shades.  There are many ways to do it (using circumference measurements, compass etc.), but a quick and dirty way of doing it is to lay the shade on its side and slowly trace the edge while you roll it.

I used this method to make a coordinating lampshade for DD's nursery.  I will advise you to be neat about the edge of the fabric when gluing....I had to use a ribbon to hide the ugly edges I didn't account for.
