Installing an OTR Microwave where vent hood used to be?
I just took down our old vent hood and am looking to replace it with an over the range microwave. I currently have wires coming out from the wall where the vent hood was (no outlet in above cabinet). I plan to pull up the existing wires and install an outlet in the cabinet above. How do I know if there will be enough power to run the microwave on that "line"? I'm afraid it would be really expensive to have a new line put in due to the fact that our basement ceilings are drywalled. Anybody have any good advice on this subject? I have done a lot of googling and can't seem to find an exact answer.
THANKS!

Re: Installing an OTR Microwave where vent hood used to be?
Funny you should mention this. In the house I'm in now, the former owners did this. The power was fine, but the micro hung too close to the stovetop, and we ended up raising the cabinets to solve the problem. The backsplash got installed last week, so I'm ready to finally post pix. Need to take them first.
So short answer is, the power should be adequate.
I don't have your answer, but want to recommend to make sure you have enough clearance for a microwave. We were going to put one in. But it didn't leave enough room above the range. I was very unhappy!
