8 month old puppy in heat for first time...
and I have some questions.
It is normal for her head to feel a bit warm? I noticed this this morning when she was sitting on me alongside her sister. Her head felt slightly warm, almost like when a kid has a fever. Then I noticed her entire body seemed warmer than her sister, and I suspect that is part of the heat cycle, but I am not sure.
They are toy rat terriers, from the same litter.
For the record, they are scheduled to be spayed once she is done with this cycle, and I have been making sure she is not exposed to any other dogs.
Re: 8 month old puppy in heat for first time...
I was going to post a similar thing. My dog has gone into heat for the first time, and I have zero experience with this. Both my other dogs were spayed before their time with us/first cycle.
We wanted to get her spayed next week, and we had to wait until the vet gave her a clean bill of health. Now it appears that we have to wait, but I?m not sure how long.
I think the cycle last 3-4 weeks, that is what it says online.
Thankfully, she has stopped bleeding - that only lasted about a week.
I am hoping we can get them both done before the other one goes into heat - I really do not want to do this a second time. She has been really clingy too, always wanting to be on my lap.
It sounds like you might have read this already, but just in case, you still need to be careful, because she is still "fertile" even though she is no longer bleeding.
