I'm hosting a "Girls' Weekend" soon for my sister, who's getting married later this year. I live in the Southwest and almost everyone (10 women in their late 20s and early 30s) is flying in from out of state to celebrate her Bachelorette Party.
I've rented a house in a "hip" part of town, where the celebration will take place. Several of the women are staying in the house with me. Most guests are arriving Friday and staying through Sunday. Here's what I have planned - any ideas on how to make sure all the guests are taken care of & have a pleasant and fun weekend?
Friday: welcome BBQ (with standard BBQ food: burgers, chicken breasts, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and corn on the cob; plus beer and wine, and some hard stuff with mixers)
Saturday: I'll have breakfast foods like ham & cheese croissants, scrambled eggs, donuts, muffins, fresh fruit.
Then it'll be "free time," in which people can go shopping (there's a good mall really close by), hang out by the pool, get manis/pedis, whatever people want to do. I'll also have lunch food available (sandwich bar with chicken salad and turkey), veggies, chips, cookies.
Saturday night we'll give the bride gifts and maybe play a couple games, then go out to dinner and to a couple clubs (one of which has a live 80s cover band that's really fun & we'll have a private table there).
On Sunday we'll have brunch (not sure if I should host this in the house or if it should be at a restaurant) and then just free time.
For the guests, I'll have sunscreen, towels, pain relievers (for Sunday morning), magazines, mani/pedi supplies, and plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options available. I also plan on supplying the bathrooms with the necessary bath products.
What am I missing, especially for all those flying in and spending the weekend?
Re: Bachelorette Weekend - what am I missing? (long...sorry)
Those jello shooters in the fruit peels.
Also, LOL at free time scheduled. I wouldn't worry too much about planning everything. Just relax and go with the flow. Does everyone have rides arranged to and from the airport?
Ditto that.My sister didn't even come to my bachelorette party.
Dude, can I come? That sounds fantastic.
Toss in some stomach stuff with your pain relievers (pepto, tums) and you're golden.
I was thinking of doing jello shooters - everybody loves those!
And, I also lol at the free time scheduled. I just can't help myself! I know everybody is seriously looking forward to this, and I don't want to eff it up.
Everyone does have rides arranged - I'm picking a few people up and another group is renting a car (all arriving/departing around the same time).
I would compile a list of "things to do / places to see" for Saturday. Or just go to the city's visitor center and get brochures.
I would do Sunday's brunch at a local restaurant.
Dude, you're the best sister ever! Anyone who thinks you didn't cover all the bases for them is an assshole.
My ny concern is that you can't pull off all the food yourself and that you'll be too busy to have any fun.
Thanks for the suggestions - I like the idea of having a list of things to do in the city and for the stomach stuff.
I'm so glad you all think my plan looks good (and want to come)!
Sounds like a fun weekend, I wanna come!
Looks like you have everything (and more) covered!
Maybe just some snacks: fruit, muesli bars etc etc for between meals...and then maybe some pre-dinner nibbles for the Saturday night/gift opening time.
But honestly this sounds awesome, you're a great sister.
What is missing? Why, pro boards of course! Come over!
