Jacksonville??? Safe place for families to live?
Our family has possiblites of moving to Jacksonville, where are good places to live?
Re: Jacksonville??? Safe place for families to live?
I am just south of Jax (I work downtown) in Fleming Island and we love it, very family friendly. St. John's County is nice too and has great public schools.
Im hesitant to recommend Duval County because the public schools aren't great, but if that's not an issue, the Southside and Intracoastal area is nice. I love Tiverside and San Marco too.
Yes! Jacksonville is a great/safe place to live! There are many places to choose . Remember, Jacksonville is one of the largest cities (miles), so it depends on where work is..., I wouldn't go more than 25 miles away from work. That being said, my husband works downtown and we live south of the city in mandarin. Other good/family places are Avondale/Riverside (older/historical homes) with many family friendly events.... If I could do it again, I would try to live somewhere on the river- why not?? you are in Florida!- there are many rivers/canals with affordable homes too. Also the beach is a top rated place- many communities and family friendly events. Not sure of price range... but some of the "top" neighborhoods in the city of Jacksonville are "Jacksonville Golf and Country Club", and "DeerCreek". St. Johns county tends to have better schools, but are outside of city limits- but top neighborhoods are Julington Creek Plantation and Bartrum Trails.... let the search begin! and oh, yeah- check out sjacksonville.macaronikid.com when/if you move down this way- to let you know of all the fun family events going on around town!
