My son is home!

Maddox came home yesterday. He is eating like a champ and so far I can call him a pretty good baby. He loves being held and seems to sleep a little better in my arms. I was surprised at that since he has been sleeping all by himself in his hospital crib for the past 15 days. Just as well since I dont want to put him down anyway. He is sooo sooo cute, and as sweet as can be. I am so in love!!!!

We went to the pedi this morning and he up to 4lb 14oz and 19". My little guy is growing so fast already.

Sophie is very curious and nosey....she just wants to lick and smell him. She seems to be handeling it ok.

Re: My son is home!

  • Congrats!! He's so handsome!

If you haven't already, you might want to check out those double headrest carseat inserts that Babies R Us carries. It helps keep the heads of premies in place in the carseat and gives him some added support...and you can remove the inner layer when he starts growing.

We loved ours when we brought home our son!

  • Awwww, congrats! He looks great!!!!!!!!!
  • Finally! I'm so happy for you- every minute you had to spend away from him must have been torture- but, that sweetie is worth it all, I'm sure. Congrats to Maddox on his graduation from the NICU- and congrats to you and the rest of your family, for finally having their newest member home! :)

  • Yay for coming home Maddox! He's adorable.  To piggy back on Jen's suggestion, (especially with winter coming up), when DS was born, he was 5 pounds even, and we brought him home at 4-8.  We didn't like the double headrest.  But we did get the Kiddopotomus (sp?) it's an insert for the entire seat, cozy warm (looks like lamb) and it really held his head in place.

It's funny that when you buy the car seat, it looks soooo small, but to put a baby that size in it and it totally swallows up the baby!!!

Glad everyone is home!  Enjoy that baby!!

  • Im so glad Maddox is finally home.  Congrats on this major milestone.  I love the pics of Sophie.  Shes a big sister and looks like shes liking it.

Im sure you dont ever want to put Maddox down.  Enjoy yourself you all deserve it.  Welcome Home Maddox.

  • Awwww congrats!!! He's so itty bitty and adorable!!!!

I'm so glad you get to fully enjoy him.

    God bless!

  • Oh how exciting.  I am glad that everyone is finally together at home.  I know that must be a huge relief for you and your DH.  He is so tiny in that seat.  I was debating taking back the double head rest, but looking at little Maddox, maybe I should wait to see how big Ari really is.  Congrats again and wishing you as much rest as you can possibly get with a newborn.  lol

  • Aww I am so happy for you!  It is the BEST feeling when you bring your baby home from the NICU!  Congrats again..sounds like everything is going well!
  • Congrats on having him home. He's so super-cute!

That's awesome that Sophie's doing so well. Did you do any training with her ahead of time or had she been exposed to babies before?

  • Jenn...I have one of those preemie head support things but had forgotten to bring it to the hospital. I have since put it in there and he still has room to grow into it. Haha...we figured we would have a bigger baby and got the carseat that holds up to 30lbs. Poor little guy is lost in there.

Diane, we kept blankets with him at the hospital and brought them home to her....too bad I ended up sleeping with them next to my nose. When I would change his clothes at the hospital I brought home the dirty clothes for her to examine. Of course I caught her licking them. I think Soph will love having a baby in the house...she is definitly intrigued

  • Congrats!! So happy that he's home safe and sound (and what an adorable little guy!)
  •  You are one step ahead from where I was, because I didn't even have the head support bought when I brought my son home! I wasn't expecting him to be so little. Your post just reminded me that we also rolled up receiving blankets into thin "log" shapes, and placed them between the carseat and the double head support the first couple months. Maybe that will work for you as well! Down the road you will be loving the fact that your carseat holds up to 30lbs. Infant car seats are so convenient - it's amazing how much more work it is when you have to take them out of the carseat to get them into the stroller. Ahhh, I miss the infant days!
