Sunburn Relief ?

While on a long walk at the seacoast this past weekend, I got THE worst sunburn that I've had in YEARS! My shoulders, chest, back and arms are almost purple, they are SO burnt! I am always so good about putting on sunscreen, but this was a spur of the moment day trip and I completely forgot. Now, I'm paying for it.

I have tried everything for some relief and just wanted to see if anyone has any different remedies they use?

I have been layering on the aloe, and some aloe spray- but the relief is temporary...

I have tried spraying apple cider vinegar and coconut oil as well, but nothing is helping! Does anyone have any other ideas? I'll try anything. I swear every day that passes, it feels like it's getting worse instead of better!  :'(

Re: Sunburn Relief ?

  • Old school Noxzema - the white, creamy stuff.  It cools the burn.

  • I think I've read that you can take advil for it.
  • Maybe try Solarcaine (I think they have both a spray and a gel)... DH swears by it. A damp/cool wash cloth while you're at home might help, too. Just wave it around in the air a few times when it gets warm and it will cool back of.

  • Soak a plain white tee shirt (my hubby always has these lying around) in white vinegar and wear it until the shirt is hot (pulls the burn out). If you devleop blister's at all, go to the doctor and get the silverdine (sp?) cream to ward off infection. The solarcaine stuff works for like 1/2 an hours.

    Feel better!

    Ditto white vinegar!
  • I agree with others who have said Noxema and Advil. LUSH has this lotion called Dream Cream that works pretty well too.
