Carpet Cleaner - Solution Safe for Babies?Hi Everyone!  I've never posted here and haven't been on in forever.  I'm trying to be much more green in my life but I'm still a novice when it comes to this stuff. I have a LO who is getting to be a very mobile little girl, and it has just made me realize how much I need to clean and get things organized around our home.  So this may be a bit random but hoping someone has had some experience! One thing I want to do is buy a carpet cleaner.  I'm looking at a Bissel Proheat Upright Deep Cleaner if it matters.  Do any of you have deep cleaners?  Is there a cleaning solution that is safe for a LO on the move?  I just hear a lot of them leave residues behind, no matter how hard you try, so I just want to be sure that whatever is left around won't be harmful to her. I tried to check out something from a company like Seventh Generation but I'm just not finding anything.Any advice would be appreciated!

  • I'm new at being ef too. I have the bissel proheat pet. It does pretty good. Just make sure to use the rinse cycle after shampooing. Sometimes I rinse it multiple times just because it picks up extra dirt that way.

  • Thank you!  I bought it but after researching decides to just clean using plain water.  I might try vinegar mixed in sometime but I read just water does an amazing job and a lot of professionals use that as well (?).  Doesn't leave behind residues or trap dirt like some shampoos.  Worked like a charm for me!
  • if you can get a hold of a steamer that just uses water I would highly recommend that. I squeezed half a lemon in with the water to make the carpet smell fresher. No residue, no chemicals, and cleaner than any cleaning product I have ever used.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • The reason that there is a residue left behind is because most people use too much product. Follow the directions carefully for any kind of cleaner. More is not better. I will leave a residue and that is sticky which attracts dirt, so your carpet and floor gets dirtier faster.

We have a steamer for the floors and it does a great job.
