which rug for 6 year old boy's room?

This is his headboard:

This is his bedding

Walls are light blue to a white chair rail then beige on top

Floors are light oak (like the last carpet pic)

Here are my rug options

#1- stripey fish (I LOVE this one!  It's fun and the stripes match his bedding & headboard). Cost: $200 for 5x8 with free shipping

#2: school fish (I LOVE this one too!  It's less child oriented so it could also work in another room (or for when he is older). Cost: $480 for 5x8 with free shipping

also comes in light blue

  • I like the third option. Light with the dark fish. Or, I'd go with a chocolate solid colored rug. A tan to coordinate with the tan in the bedding could work too. Or, even just solid blue.

With the headboard and bedding there is already a lot of pattern.

This, except, I like the darker rug better, as I thin stains would show less.

  • good points..

I did wind up going with the first on because of the price (and I was able to use a coupon to save another $20!  I also grabbed their last one as they are now sold out)

Hopefully, with the plain floors, neutral walls, & simple curtains it wont be over kill with pattern.

  • I like 2 and 3. I like 2 the most. Number 1 is cute, but I think the room has enough pattern- and add in a 6 years old's toys/clothes/general mess, I think you'll like a less busy patterned rug. 2 and 3 are really cute anyways!

  • Well, it seems like you already picked...

I like 2 best by far. #1 is AWESOME but there is so much pattern going on already. The headboard and comforter are very busy and I worry the rug would be overkill but it is a cool rug and if you like it then that's what counts! You can always get a more basic comforter down the line if it's too much.
