So i have so major issues i guess. i have oily but dehydrated skin.. how does that happen.. any way I am still in search of the holy grail... anyone have this issue and want to recommend a good foundation....

Oily vs. Dry is in reference to the amount of sebum or oil your body naturally produces.
Dehydrated is in reference to the amount of water you consume.
I would recommend getting a good quality skin care regime in place for oily skin, and possibly use a lightweight tinted moisturizer. Foundations can be heavy, and if you have oily skin you won't be happy.
I like Laura Mercier TM personally, and I have the same situation.
I have oily/dry combo skin myself. Once or twice a week, I use a scrub before bed that I found on Pinterest. It's equal parts brown sugar, honey, and olive oil. My skin is so soft and moisturized afterwards, and surprisingly not greasy
I've also found most foundations too heavy, and they make my t-zone especially slick. I am LOVING the Nars tinted moisturizer. It's very sheer and light, but has great coverage. Can't recommend it enough. It's pricey, but you only need a dab so it lasts a while.
My other go-to product is Mac's Matte. It's $20 a tube, and lasts forever. I wear it on my t-zone, with and without makeup. It's one of these things I never leave home without it.
I would reccomend an oil free facial moisturizer with spf 30 or higher for your morning skin care routine and invest in an oil free night time moisturizer. Night time is when our skin gets a chance to repair its self from the days damage. I have combination skin where I tend to be dry in the cheek area and a little more oily in the T zone area which is across the forehead and down the nose to the chin. I recently started a different night time cleansing routine where I use a foaming cleanser followed by a toner (oil free). Then I follow that up with Lancome's visionniare (If you've just met me, I work at lancome) with a moisturizer. In the morning I cleanse my face with just warm water followed by a moisturizer with spf. I have more hydrated and less oily feeling skin and I have been getting a lot of compliments on my skin when I'm at the makeup counter.
The ladies above gave some good suggestions as well. You don't have to use a liquid foundation. Just use foundation where you feel you really need it or on the dryer areas of your skin and then use a matte press powder for all areas of your skin. Make sure your makeup is oil free as well, and I can't stress enough on using skin care products/makeup with SPF.
the best advice i ever got was to switch up my routine so that my day routine is different from the night routine. you should use the harshest products at night, and the gentlest ones in the morning when you wake up.
for example, i exfoliate and thoroughly wash at night, and then in the morning i use a gentle face wipe. it could be you are over-cleaning, which makes your dry areas even more dry and your oily areas just produce more oil in order to compensate.
i also believe in changing my makeup in winter versus summer. in the winter i use a heavier tinted moisturizer whereas in the summer i go much lighter and also generally wear less makeup.
the other great piece of advice i got was to incorporate an exfoliating face wash into my routine every night- ie something with fruit acids and exfoliants. my skin feels softer and cleaner before i apply my night time eye cream and moisturizer.
hey hun i'd suggest calendula oil, lutein rich foods like kale, and antioxidant rich foods like blue berries. also ph balance is imporant like aloe vera gel or juice as a cleanser and toner before you moisturize with calendula.
i have had this problem and this has helped. being very gentle. not exfoliating too much or at all really...and just keeping your skin moisturized with the right things that stimulate surface lipid regeneration. because we have removed our precious surface lipids from our stratem corneum. i hope this helps and that you gain success in skin.
