aphids

I think I had an aphid attack on some of my vegetable plants. I have been spraying them with some insecticidal soap now when I see them, but some of the damage was already done. My cucumber plants still have strong stems (my squash stems were split open...) but the leaves look horrible. They don't look like they were eaten by something, but instead they have some whitish/yellow spots and are very droopy (it's not powdery mildew). Is it possible for them to make a recovery, or do I need to pull them out and start over? Is this even damage from the aphids? DH is convinced it's a fungus, but I can't find anything online that looks like it. I'm so upset about the aphid thing, everything was growing really well until I transplanted it, and now I'm starting to lose things :(
