I'm so excited to finally be getting my first tattoo! It's something that I've thought about for a long time and I'm so pumped to finally be committing to it. At first I wanted a butterfly because when my grandmother passed away I saw alot of butterflies and have always associated them with her. But, butterflies are really common and I haven't been able to find one exactly the way I'd like it. So, I'm going with a cute love symbol. It's a heart that uses the L and the E of LOVE to form the shape of the heart. It's in a scrolly whimsicle font and is perfect. I'm getting it next Friday which is also the weekend of my first wedding anniversary. I'm not one for putting names on me as I've seen so many couples do that and it not work out. But I thought with it being about love that it would be cute at our anniversary. I'm nervous about it hurting since it will be on my foot and it's a bony place. But I'm really excited!! Just wanted to share
Re: Getting my first tattoo!
That's awesome, I'm thinking of getting one as well, or maybe two, lol. I like the infinity symboI, and a hibiscus flower, but just can't decide where I want them to go.
Let us know how yours turned out, would love to see a pic!
I have 3 tattoos...my advice, take a sharpie and draw it on your foot where you want it to be, and look at it daily for a week or so, to make sure you like it. Also, about an hour before, take 2 tylenol PM. Then pick up some Lubridern Sensitive (the one with no dye or scents) and apply it constantly for about 3 weeks.
Mine is on the inside of my foot below my ankle. After three years, it is starting to run a bit. The tattoo artist warned me and was hesitant to put it there but I persisted. As far as pain goes, having been remarkably tough through childbirth and gallbladder surgery, I think getting the tattoo was pretty painful. Quick but painful.
It sounds like the design you want is meaningful and beautiful. I agree with pp that you may want to rethink the location.
This. I got my first tattoo on the top of my foot two years ago and I just got it re-colored because it faded so much. You may want to consider above the ankle.

Here is the link for my tattoo! I just got it this evening and am very happy with how it turned out. I'd say out of a scale of 1-10 it was around a 4...not necessarily painful but it definitely didn't feel great - more like a sharp scratching feeling. I'm so glad that I finally got one and it means alot since my 1 year anniversary with my husband is on monday : )
Really is pretty but I hate to tell you those fine lines are going to look like sh*t in about 5 years. But if you love it, that is all that matters.
Are you REALLY sure you want to get a tattoo?
Not trying to be a buzz kill.
I have ONE tattoo that I got about 20 years ago. I wish I would have never been inked. I wish I could get it removed. Because it feels very silly now.
