Hey there! My husband and I are planning on traveling to Seattle in August. We're from Northern Cali so the flight should be pretty short. We are planning on visiting the touristy spots. I would like to get your recs on restaurants. I would love to have some good seafood while we're there.
Also, is a rental car required? We were thinking about renting a car but heard that the public transportation in Seattle is so good that we might not need one.
TIA for your help!

Re: Travelling to Seattle
We have all migrated on over to: http://pandce.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=seattle
Feel free to come on over and ask questions there.
If you're going the touristy route, then Ivars and Anthony's are THE places to go for seafood, and both are right on the water with incredible views
Beeches is at the end of Pike Place and near the "first" Starbucks. It's not seafood, but is constantly ranks the "World's best Mac and Cheese". Seriously. It's incredible. You can just grab a 5 buck bowl to go and eat it while you walk Pike Place
There is also Pike Place Brewery which makes some fantastic beers and a block from the market. It's a great All-American style bar/pub/restaurant.
If you're feeling brave to try something a little different, but still very "Seattle" like I would recommend Lark. It's amazing, and after dinner you can just walk down the street to a swanky scotch bar, other bars, a couple clubs, etc. It's also right across from Seattle U which is a beautiful campus.
Where are you staying? If you're down town you really don't need a car but if you want to travel outside the city you might want to get a rental. Personally I don't find the public transportation very good here but I don't live downtown so there's that.
Don't waste your time on the EMP it's a waste of money but the Pacific Science Center is always fun. Like a PP suggested Ivars and Anthonys are good seafood spots. If you venture out to Alki stop in Pegasus pizza for lunch. It's a little pricey but it's super good. I know it's not pizza but I LOVE that place. You should eat in the Space Needle too! I thought it was really good food and it's quite an experience. I think that place is a little pricey too.
If you happen to be here while a Mariners game is going on go see a game (if you like baseball). Check out Jimi Hendrix grave it's outside Seattle in Renton but if you're a fan it's cool. Ride the new ferris wheel on the waterfront. I haven't done it yet but I'm sure it would have some nice views. The Underground Tour is awesome as well. It takes you underneath Seattle to see where the old city used to be. Seattle was literally built ontop of itself. You may even experience a ghost : ) Take a photo by the tellers cage in the tour. My friends and I did and we actually have the ghost from an old story in the picture. When I went back on another tour I told the guide and she had never even heard the story I was talking about so I know it's real.
If you venture even further out of the city go to Mt. Rainier there's so great hiking and beautiful views. We have Ride The Ducks here too and Argosy cruises are fun. Seattle Center has a fountain you can go in, shopping and carnival rides. I can't think of anything else right now but I hope you have fun and you should have good weather while you're here.
