Affluent areas = higher rates of infidelity?
After 10 years establishing itself as the infidelity destination on the Internet, AshleyMadison.com has finally built enough of a membership -- a whopping 210,000 members in the Philadelphia region alone -- that it has now begun identifying the neighborhoods most likely to cheat.
And like many other urban areas across the United States, some of Philadelphia's most affluent neighborhoods and areas have the highest percent of AshleyMadison members. The top of the list: the Main Line.
Generally thought of as home to the region's most bucolic streets and most successful residents, almost 3 percent of all adults on the Main Line have a profile on AshleyMadison, the company told Metro yesterday.
"Just like in other cities, there is a correlation between affairs and affluence," website founder Noel Biderman said in an interview, noting that many affluent neighborhoods have women who work, raising the percent of female members. "Those people (with wealth) not only usually are type A people and born to take risks, but they're also in environments that remove them from the families for business. And they have many temptations thrown at them."
After the Main Line, the Philadelphia region's list includes: Old City, Huntington Valley, Fox Chase, Chestnut Hill/Germantown, Washington Square West, Fairmount, Northern Liberties, Manayunk and Center City.
Since 2002, the website has grown to nearly 15 million members worldwide.
He said working women continue to push the female membership higher. "The female ratio has been the faster growing of the two [sexes]."

Re: Main Line Membership on Ashley Madison.....
I saw that in the Metro this morning and thought it was very interesting.
Although I wonder, do more cheat in affluent areas, or do affluent areas have more people willing to pay money to join a website devoted to cheating?
If I'm a poor person who can barely feed my kids, I may be getting my groove on with the neighbor, but I'm not going online to pay money to talk about it.
I think people will still cheat --- the more wealthy ones are more willing to pay for it.
Unfortunately I know of this website b/c one of my best friends found out her husband had a profile on it (they're now divorced).
this may be a horrible stereotype but I wonder if affluent areas also have more spouses willing to turn a blind eye to cheating too. they have more to lose if they call them out on it so they feel an entitlement to cheat?
DH found out that our iphones were linked because of the cloud feature and everything he downloaded came on my phone too... needless to say he downloaded the match.com app, ashley madison, etc within 5 minutes of learning this... if I didn't trust him so much he'd have been in DEEP crap! but it was actually pretty funny.
