p90x?

Any p90xers out there? I'm curious and looking for reviews... it seems expensive. Was it worth it?

Re: p90x?

  • My husband did it and he really liked it, lost weight, and eats healthier now thanks to the program.  It's a big time commitment and he was unemployed when he did it so it was easier then.  He plans to do it again to bulk up.  You have to follow the diet plan or else you won't see good results.
  • I did it a few years ago and really liked it. It's hard to do without a lot of equipment, so be ready to invest some $$ in that as well. Give the videos a few rounds without buying anything though and see what you can get away with using around your house first, like heavy objects instead of weights or elastic tubes instead of pull-up bars. Like PP said, it's a huge time commitment but I disagree about the meal plans. They are helpful but eating the amount of protein and calories they recommend is absolutely ridiculous. If you begin working out really hard, you'll lose weight - just eat sensibly.

There is a new Beachbody program coming out this summer called Body Beast. It is designed to put on muscle mass and bulk up. He might want to try that :)

OP, I am on the Beachbody message boards all the time. I have not tried it myself but, people who have love it. My personal favorites are Insanity and Chalean Extreme.

  • My husband is doing the 1st Beachbody program right now. Having never seen p90x, I only know what I've heard, but it's supposed to be easier and prepare you for p90x. He's not had much problem with following the program. I do the weight lifting with him, and its nicely leveled so anyone can do the exercises. I use a 5 or 10 lb weight for all of them. I only just saw the cardio portion of the program yesterday. Looks kind of boring to me, so I just run instead. The abs workout is no joke though.
  • I did P90X last year.  It's a great program and will kick your hiney.  Some workouts are tedious (yoga at 90 minutes) and Tony's jokes are lame, but the program all around definitely makes you feel better and stronger at the very least.  I didn't follow the diet program at all--and didn't see any major inches drop off, but I was able to fit into some of my smaller sized clothing, and I had better definition.
