Cedar Point?

I will be travelling to Ann Arbor next week for a wedding. My husband came across a website for Cedar Point. It sounds like a great place to visit and is only 2 hours from Ann Arbor. I wanted to see if nestie on this board has been there.

We are trying to figure out which hotel to stay at in the park. My children are 2 and 4 and LOVE Snoopy. I would appreciate any advice on where to stay and tips to fully enjoy the park. Also- would anyone recommend more than 1 day at the park? Thanks!

Re: Cedar Point?

  • Cedar Point is a lot of fun!  When I have gone I have stayed at the Breakers Hotel.  From what I remember it has a great pool and beach access.  I also think by staying in the park you get to go in the park a few hours early or stay in a few hours later.

Sorry I don't have a ton of information but it has been awhile since I have been there.  No matter what though you will have a great time its worth the trip!

  • We have always stayed at Hotel Breakers, make sure it's the main hotel and not the Express that's across the street.  The last time we stayed there there was a part that was remodeled and a part that wasn't.  We have always requested the newer part when making reservations, not sure if they ever finished remodeling the whole hotel.  For your kids' ages  I would think one whole day is enough.  A lot of the rides will be too big for them and those are the ones with the major lines.  The rides that your children will be able to ride usually don't have too much of a wait.  We have done 2 days but only because we did the waterpark on one of the days and the amusement park on the other.
  • I LOVE CP.  I've never stayed at a hotel around there though so I have no advice.

  • Almost anyone who lives in Southeast Michigan has been there as it is only about 2 hours away and is a really fun place to go!  They are consistently rated one of the top amusement parks in the country, especially for their over-the-top roller coasters.

I would only recommend one day if you are just talking about staying in the park and doing rides.  I have not been in several years, but from what I can remember, the park is somewhat limited in rides for your kids' ages.  There are other fun things for young kids, just not a lot of rides if that makes sense?  However, if you are also interested in the water park or just want to take your time since your kids are so young, you could definitely make a long weekend out of it.

Enjoy, I am sure you will have a great time!

  • For young kids there are 2 areas they will like - Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy. Planet Snoopy is closer to the front of the park and has some older kids rides but also newer ones. Go there first. Then there is Camp Snoopy. That is farther back in the park. That is where the Snoopy characters walk around and they have a little stage area where they put on performances and there is a lot of interaction with the kids. We went last year with our 4 year old daughter and made the mistake of walking back to Camp Snoopy first. They didn't open those rides until an hour or so after the park opened - at least not until the park opens for general admission. If you stay at a park property you can go an hour earlier. I didn't even realize that there were 2 separate locations for kids until we had been there for an hour. There are rides in both kids areas. Camp Snoopy even has a litle roller coaster that your 4 year old will like. Not sure if a 2 year old can ride...but an adult will have to ride even if it's the 4 year old. Just outside of Camp Snoopy is another kids roller coaster - the Gemini Jr. Also good for the 4 year old, not sure about the 2 year old.   Even though the 2 year old is a little small for the roller coasters, there are still quite a few rides they will like. For most of the kiddie rides the only requirement is that the child has to be able to walk on his/her own. Have fun!
