Due to having horrible Migrains while on the pill and trying 7 different kinds of the pill. My doctor has put me on Junell. It is a 28 day pill with no periods at all. They believe my migrains were due to the decrease in hormones when i got my period.
I was just wondering if
a) Any ladies have had bad consequences to having no period.
b) Any ladies had consequences from changing the pill so much
c) can i just stop for a few day and have a period then start again?
Thanks Ladies
Re: No Period...
Please follow the directions for the pill you are on. If you're supposed to keep taking them and not have a period (btw, they're not even technically periods, they're 'withdrawal bleeds'), then do that. If you're not comfortable with that, ask your doctor for a different pill.
There is no apparent reason to have a monthly (or even any at all) bleed while on the pill. It does not decrease fertility or do anything else that might be harmful. Changing pills also should not be an issue in and of itself, though side effects from a particular pill may be harmful.
Anyway, you really should address these concerns with your gyn. That's his/her job, after all.
I use Mierena and don't get a period because of it. I never minded having a period before but now that I don't get one I love saving the money and hassle. I've debated this with friends who think its "unnatural" to not have a period and therefore not healthy. Women used to spend most of their lives either pregnant or breastfeeding so getting a period every month from age 12 to 50 is a relatively new thing in human history. There's nothing really natural about it and no research out there saying its any healthier than not having one.
I changed pills a ton of times in high school. I don't think there are any long term problems with it but it could make it harder to identify what are BC side effects and what is your body adjusting to change.
With C, I don't understand what the point is of going off the pill to get a "period". There is no health benefit so you would basically be messing with your hormones for no reason.
A. As pp said, these are withdrawal bleeds and not periods. There is no point to having either in your case, and there are also no negative side effects. In your case, having these withdrawals bleeds seems to cause problems, so you should not want to have them.
B. Frequent pill changes can bring on pms-like symptoms if you are switching to a lower hormone level, but given why they put you on the new pill and that it's a continuous dose, anything like that should go away by the end of the first pack.
C. Technically you might be able to induce a withdrawal bleed, BUT THAT IS A HORRIBLE IDEA. First of all, you are on this pill because WITHDRAWAL BLEEDS CAUSE MIGRAINES FOR YOU. You WILL have the migraines if you do this. Secondly, PLEASE talk to your doctor. If you stop taking the pill for long enough, your body may ovulate and you will risk pregnancy.
Please get medical advice from doctors, but if not, maybe this article will help explain this. http://thewelltimedperiod.blogspot.com/2004/08/menstrual-suppression-vs.html?m=1
I had migraines on the pill, and multiple other problems with varying types of other BC so I got paragard.
As far as stopping your pills to get your period will then result in pregnancy so you probably shouldn't do that...kind of counteracts the reason for taking BC.
Talk to your doctor. Trusting randoms (myself included) on a forum is like trusting WebMD to diagnose you with a condition and assuming it's correct.
