Spain ladies, I could use some advice

We just found some very inexpensive tickets to Madrid for our honeymoon in March. I know costs vary greatly, but any help would be appreciated on how expensive of a country Spain is.

We were thinking of basing in Madrid and making one trip to the coast for a beach day or two.

Is that a do-able thing for a full 6 days?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Spain ladies, I could use some advice

  • Madrid is almost the exact geographical center of Spain...about as far away from the coasts as you can get!  That said, it's our favorite city in Spain, and you can get anywhere in the country quickly on high speed rail.  I would spend a night or two in Madrid on either end of your trip, and take the train to Altea on the coast, or even to Barcelona to get another perspective on the country.  You can get to the beaches from Barcelona in about a 1/2 hour and it would be fun to do both Barcelona and Madrid in the same trip since they are SO different.  If you go farther south along the coast, south of Valencia, that's where Altea is.  It's a really quiet town with a great walkable center.
  • Thank you so much!

That is really a great help! We will definitely look into all those!

I have liked the sound of Valencia since we started looking into it. Altea we must look into!

  • No problem - if you're interested this is the B&B that we stayed at in Altea, and here are the Trip Advisor reviews.  We really, really loved it and I would highly recommend it if you end up in Altea.

You can check train schedules and fares here - and I would recommend booking your trains before you leave the states.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions or want more info on anything specific :)

  • I work a lot so I don't always get to check back every day.

I appreciate all the help! I will let you know when we decide to book I'm sure we will have questions!

Going to look at all your links now...Party!!!
