I've been mining our gift closet for gifts for upcoming birthdays. Woohoo! I have been completely set, aside from an odd item or two (and DD's reclaiming something for her birthday). Anyway, one item is a "Don't Wake Daddy" game -- kind of fun as you try to get around the board and hope when you have to press the alarm clock, the "daddy" doesn't sit up straight in his bed (then you go back to start and start over). I was going to give this to a boy (turning 5) in DD's class. She's not super close to him and I have zero idea of what he is into. And I already have stuff for the 2 upcoming girl parties. DH insists that the game is a lame gift and he would immediately think it was a re-gift (it's not -- it's brand new, bought on sale last Black Friday). He thinks it is not enough by itself. I pointed out DD's BFF gave her a game -- and only a game -- last year.
So the game -- lame gift or fine gift? Enough on its own or needs something extra? WDYT? TIA!

Re: Lame or Not?
For a boy in her class? Fine.
You know, maybe if that was the one and only gift you bought your daughter for her birthday, I'd call you lame. But no, you are good.

Mom of 2 boys in that age range saying its GREAT.
They get so much similar stuff from class birthday parties. The game will not only have some staying power but be a nice break from cars and super heroes.
Games give parents and siblings a great excuse to interact.
