Paint color help for outer space bedrm....

Hi All, Im planning on painting my son's bedroom with an outer space theme. I think I will paint 3 walls a lighter color and the fourth wall a dark (blue?) color ad make that the outer space wall....

Any suggestions on what colors to use? Or any suggestions on how to pull off this theme?

A friend did something similar for her boys.  She painted one wall solid dark blue and one wall orange. She added arcs to the ceiling, floors and adjacent wall so that it was a view of the sun. She then added a comet and a couple of planets in orbit around the sun.  To make the comets, we traced dinner plates and then painted the circles with a light brown (left over paint) then added trailing brushstrokes of a darker brown paint for the comets' tails.  We used four different shades of left over browns from her house, my house and other friends' houses.   She threw a painting party and four of us tackled this room in their addition while her boys were at summer camp.  At random intervals on the ceilings and walls, we added glow in the dark star stickers.   After installing cheap shelving, we painted the shelving the same colors as the background so it blended it.

My DH is an astronomy nut and has his study painted navy blue - yes, all 4 walls.  White trim, silver 2" metal blinds on the windows and lots of framed celestial photos.

Rug is from an educational supply catelogue - of the planets in orbit.

It is really cool --- and the room does not look dark.
