Critters in Flower Pots

I have had flower pots for three years at our house without any problems.  This year I have had something digging in my flower pots almost every day/night.  They are digging up a variety of flowers and eating  them.  We have tried some pesticide we have had from previous years but I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas of something that might help this problem?  They're ruining my flowers!!

    Pesitcides are usually for bugs.

I suggest putting the pots up higher so they can't reach them, or removing them for awhile. Unless you know what animal it is exactly digging it up, it's hard to repel them. My mother has this problem because they live in a wooded area and she bought tall planters and used her smaller pots for higher spots on walls, benches, etc.  Solved her problem.

My guess it might be a squirrel or a rabbit.

  • You can try red pepper - just sprinkle on the soil.  Of course every time you water or it rains you must replace.  And I would say it is a squirrrel.  At my old house we had aggressive squirrels that would do this- our new house we have  TON of rabbits and they are all about nibbling on the ground plants- not my potted plants.
