YES, thank you for thinking of me! 1 week 5 days past due, our little man has finally arrived! Here is a copy of what I posted to the facebook group last night:
Piglet arrived just after 2:00 this afternoon via emergency CSection. We came in last night and I got the cervadil, by midnight I was having strong regular contractions and by 2:00am I couldn't sleep through them so we got on the monitors for a bit longer and I was able to labor in the tub which was fabulous. I spent most of the day in there. They removed the cervadil early in the morning and I continued to contract on my own, I jumped from 2 to 6 within a couple hours and they were able to break my water. I immediately went to 7 cm and baby dropped a bit but still not as much as we would have liked. I labored in the tub for a couple hours more and only progressed to 8 cm, at this point my contractions were strong and my body was pushing - I couldn't control it. This resulted in a stalled labor and my cervix began to swell, the baby didn't tolerate my anti pushing well and we had a couple of dangerously low heart rates so the decision was made to go in for a CSection where they could give me a spinal vs. waiting until the point where I would have to be put under and Nicholas wouldn't have been able to go with me. Lane Karl arrived at 2:01pm, weighing 8lbs 12oz at a length of 21.25 inches long. He just wasn't in the right position to come out, his head was a bit to the side and he never adjusted to make it into the birth canal correctly. I'm proud of myself for making it the 13 hours of labor without intervention - besides the cervadil to induce. Ultimately we made the choices we had to and we have a beautiful baby boy. I'm doing well, just super sore with a bit of extra bleeding so they have me on some extra doses of pitocin. Baby has been named "barracuda" feeder by one of the nurses because he is eating so much and has pooped 5 good diapers full. Our latches are hit and miss but we seem to be doing ok once we are on. I will hopefully get some photos up tomorrow when I am able to get out of bed.
Our babes were close to the same size! Doesn't he feel like a tank compared to the itty bitties?? B is dwarfing some of the babes in a mothering group I go to and she's the youngest. Yikes!
I'm sorry you had to go through a section, but way to go for making it through as much as you did! It sounds like he didn't really want to come out in to the world and start to work for his food. I'm glad that he's doing well and chowing down already. And I hope you heal up fast. In the end, piglet makes it all worth it.
When you are feeling up to it, let me know if you want to get the kids together. I'm pretty footloose and fancy free. :-)
Yes, I feel so out of shape! I didn't get the build up of muscle from holding a small baby to my little monster. What kills me too is that he is all torso, my short stubby arms don't know what to do with all of him!
Thanks for the well wishes, I am feeling pretty good overall and need to remind myself to take it easy. L is a dream, and you're right, worth EVERY minute.
I'm hoping to start getting out and about in a couple weeks, I would LOVE to do a play date!
