Grout question

Im a lurker with a question. You guys always have good answers and suggestions so I thought I'd ask. I am tiling a kitchen backsplash with 2x8 bone/off white crackle finish subway tile and I'm not sure what color grout. My cabinets are espresso and the granite is light with yellow, gray and spots of dark brown. I'm thinking light might get dirty so my other thought is dark brown. I'm just not sure if I like dark grout on light subway. What do you think?

Re: Grout question

  • I like the grout to be close to the color of the tiles but it is really your personal preference.
  • I think dark grout can look good, but it definitely stands out! I would personally get tired of looking at it. I would try and match the tile.
  • I love the brown option. As PP said, it will really stand out. That's what I'm doing as soon as we get new counter tops.
  • How good are you at tiling? Because a dark color will stand out and show any tiling imperfection. I have white on white and have yet to have a dirty issue. Since no one walks on it the only dirt is occasional food splash up. I just clean it ASAP.
