Possibly Moving to Denver

I guess I should re-introduce myself. I used to post occasionally but haven't been around in quite a while! I currently live in Fort Collins, but my husband just got a job offer in Denver, so now we are considering a move.

I was hoping I could get some recommendations on which suburbs to consider because I am completely clueless about the Denver area! We would be considering anywhere along an RTD transit line. And we'd really love an area that has more of an "old town" feel and is very pedestrian/bike friendly.

I've been trying to research our options but I haven't found many good websites to look at house rentals or compare neighborhoods. Any suggestions?

Re: Possibly Moving to Denver

  • Hello!

I live in Lakewood and really like it.  The old town feel makes me think of Littleton, which I live right next too.  I know it has a light rail station.  I don't know of any houses for rent. I live right by a bike bath.  If you need a place soon, while you are still looking, my apt building does month to month rentals.  I am happy to PM you the information.

  • I'll definitely have to look into Littleton, thanks for the suggestion.  I think my husband would probably just commute from Fort Collins for a few months to give us time to find something, so luckily it wouldn't be a big rush.

  • Arvada also has an Old Town.  (Spelled Olde, haha.)  Downtown Golden.
  • Your post made me think of "Downtown" Littleton

  • I live in Detroit now but used to live in Fort Collins.  I worked in Denver for 4 years while commuting from Ft. Collins.  It wasn't ideal but we loved Ft. Collins and didn't want to leave.  What part of Denver is he working in? What does he do?  There are ways to commute that don't include driving yourself.  Look into VanGo services; it's basically carpooling and it's great!
