Can't be home for outdoor contractors - WWYD?

We are having a patio installed next week.  The owner of the company said that we only need to be there for the first hour to go over everything.  I can run home at lunch but otherwise, we can't be there all day.  It should take 2 days to finish.

Would you leave the house open so they can use the bathroom, get water/soda?  We have Gilbert but he is gated during the day so that's not a problem.

WWYD?

Re: Can't be home for outdoor contractors - WWYD?

  • Nah, they'll bring their own gatorade or whatever and they'll go to the bathroom at lunch.
  • No. They will bring their own drinks and I am sure they can run to the store nearby to use the bathroom if they can't hold it. IF you want to be generous, leave a cooler with some water for them outside, but I do believe that they will bring their own drinks.

I told DH I'm afraid they'll pee on the side of the yard (it's very private).  I joked that I was going to put up a sign that says, "Thank you for doing a nice job on our "ATIO" - notice there is no "P" in it"  Stick out tongue

  • Well, they will probably pee in your yard.

However, I would rather that than leave my house open all day to a bunch of strangers while I'm not home.

  • I wouldn't do such thing. At the worst case (if it would be demanded by the workers) I would post a "surveillance camera on property" sign.
  • It is a good chance that they will pee in your yard. I guess I would rather have the pee that can be washed away with rain than having someone access to my home that I do not know.
  • We've had workers several times in our yard and house, never did any of them ask to use the bathrooms. None of them used our yard either. They must hold it until lunch? I did always leave drinks for them though, (a pitcher of ice water and soda) and it was very much appreciated, expecially in the summer.
