We need a new rug for our tile entryway, just inside our front door, and I've found one I like but it's wool. All of our other rugs in the house are wool, but I'm just wondering if that will stand up to the traffic of an entryway with visitors tracking in rain, snow, etc as they come in our front door? We also have a DD and a golden retriever, plus our extended family who often stay with us have dogs as well. Any thoughts? Should I stay away from wool and keep looking for something in a synthetic material? Or do I need something like cotton or jute (which I've been trying to avoid because the rug would extend to the bottom of our stairs and in the event DD took a tumble, it would be nice to have something there with a bit more cushion than a cotton mat)?

Re: Entryway rug?
Well, I guess the question is whether you want to pay for wool to be destroyed. If it's the same price as synthetic or you're ok with the price, go for it. Wool will stain from spills and will get wear patterns.
In your situation, I might go for something cotton that could be washed. You can put a thick pad under it for your DD.
As for synthetic, I found a 4x6 for my entryway at HD for $15 that I put out for bad weather.
