Have you started your holiday shopping?

I've started it, but I planned to have it done by Halloween. Clearly, that didn't happen.

I'd say I'm about halfway done... and I'm not happy about it. I know I won't be able to get too much done after Molly comes and DH will be taking unpaid leave for a week when she comes and half-time the week following, so we'll be strapped.

I wish that we had a Christmas Club thing... that would be so helpful.

Where are you guys at?

Re: Have you started your holiday shopping?

  • We do an elfster thing - each get a person - and we get our people at Thanksgiving - so we're no where near started.  I have an account that I've been saving in, so the $$ is there - just the shopping, and last year I did it all online - and probably will again this year.

I'm not feeling very celebratey lately, so who knows what we'll do.

  • hugs. Many, many hugs.
  • I have bits and pieces done...here and there if I see something I will pick it up.  Hopefully, that continues and I will be done in early December!

  • I just took a day off for Christmas shopping with my friend on December 5th, so I'm looking at the budget and making a list.  Now that I actually know my sister in laws a bit better I can get them something more personal than a gift card.
  • I tend to procrastinate until the last minute, but I also do not have tons of shopping to do.  Ken and I keep our gifts to each other minimal (especially with saving for a house!) and my family always just draws names from a hat which makes life much easier buying for 1 person instead of everyone!

Around Thanksgiving I start making candy (English Toffee and turtles), which is my typical gift for work-people, and hostess gifts for holiday parties and all the other random things that come up... I'll spend a few days in the kitchen which is much easier than fighting crowds at the mall! :)

  • I don't think we will be buying much this year. We are planning on moving to AZ next month just before Christmas so that's pretty much our present for my IL's who live there(and don't know we are coming!) Plus moving will basically drain our savings.
  • We draw for one person in my family. So I won't know who I have until Thanksgiving.  But, that shouldn't be too hard.  I still have to buy for DH, my parents, DH's father and aunt.. and ofcourse Brianna.  It shouldn't be too bad.. but I haven't started any of it yet.
  • OMG you're crazy! Although, given your circumstances I would probably be thinking the same thing. I haven't even started it. Haven't even THOUGHT about it. We're going to Disney for a few days after Thanksgiving, so we're not going to have a lot for Christmas, which is fine.
  • I've done nothing. I do have some ideas but nothing has been purchased yet. ?We are doing this low-key this year. ?Money is too tight.

  • I do not have a single Christmas item purchased yet. I am a bit slow from the gate when it comes to this. I am one of the crazies out the day after Thanksgiving, so I usually try to get a whole lot done then and leave little bits and pieces to take care of after. The time between turkey day and Christmas this year seems really short, though, so that makes me a little nervous.
  • I have not started any shopping, haven't even thought about. I have no idea what I want to get anyone, actually, I have no idea what anyone wants.  DH and I usually go the day before Thanksgiving because no one is out due to cooking or traveling.  Its wonderful!
  • Okay, Miss Organized and Always On Top Of Things ... rub it in a little more, will ya?   ;)   I haven't started and I really have GOT to get on it ASAP because I'm not going to want to waddle around the mall in December.   Ugh.  I'm really not looking forward to it.
