AMP: has anyone done the "Day out with Thomas"?
Is it fun? Worth it? Any deetz you'd like to share?
Re: AMP: has anyone done the "Day out with Thomas"?
We went to the one in Amish country when DS was about a year old because my sister had regular tickets she needed to unload. DS didn't give two shiits. We should have done a regular old train ride for half the price and a much smaller crowd. But now he likes Thomas, so maybe we would do it again in a nother year or so.
How long is the drive to Nashville?
Excellent job with the label!
Does he like Thomas? Does he know who Thomas is? DS loves trains, or transportation in general, but I don't know if he's aware of Thomas yet. I'm also not sure if he's aware that being on a train is, well, being on a train, as opposed to being on an airplane or in a house.
Yes, We did it last year. I was very apprehensive (and hungover) the day we went but it was a blast. DS loved it and I'll def do it again.
Ours only charged $18 per adult, and $11 per child (I think) The train ride itself was about 45 minutes long. (Which compared to the $60 per person polar express ride they have in another town, I thought it was well worth it)
They had Bob the Builder and Sir Topham hat there to sign songs and such. Bounce hours, Thomas tattoos, train sets, bubbles etc We stayed two hours longer than we have expected to.
I'm actually really looking forward to going this year.
eta Wait what is AMP?
AMP = annoying mom post
I doubt my kids would like it, they think the show is boring.
Yeah, that's what we're thinking of doing in lieu of a birthday party. He does watch Thomas on Netflix. You know, they have a train on that show named Spencer. Thomas is kind of a diickk to Spencer. Jerk.
No. I named him after a character on Criminal Minds.
Yes, we went to this. I would not do it again until my kid was older. 5 minutes on the train and he started putting his hands up saying "none none" (which means all done - get me the eff off this boring ass train). He somewhat enjoyed looking at the train set displays and playing with leggos. And that is literally all there really was to do there. Then it took both DH and myself to wrestle him back into his stroller while he had a huge meltdown because he wanted to run up the employees only ramp by the train tracks. Sigh.
I'd skip it. But if you go, take a leash.
ETA - oh yeah, there was a bounce house too. But my kid wasn't quite two yet and the bounce houses were packed with 4-5 year olds. Again - I think he was too young. It would be better for a kid at least 3. Maybe save it for next year?
We also had a friend that worked for them, so we had free tickets and even got free Thomas gear from him. I still wouldn't do it again!
Well if Spencer is really into trains maybe he'll like it. Gage could care less about trains. He doesn't find riding on a train any more interesting than riding in the car to go to the grocery store.
It's fun and worth it. We're going to take Judith to see him in September when he's in Strasburg again, and it won't be so hot like it will be when he's there in a couple weeks. The price really isn't bad, and I know that Strasburg has a deal where you can pay more but get a ride behind the regular steam engine as well. So if Spencer's really into trains and they have a deal like that where you want to go, that might be an option too.
