  • I think you need Rochella.

Also, there was a Nashville write-up in Southwest Spirit magazine a while ago. Like, probably several months. Maybe a couple years.

I've been to Nashville, I think, but I was <6, so I don't remember. I know we went to the Grand Ole Opry.  So I've been there.

  • Southwest Spirit magazine, huh? That sounds like a real page-turner.

We were below however-many-thousand-feet, so I couldn't turn on my kindle yet. And I flipped through those pages like nobody's business. I didn't even read them.

  • This hotel is the shits:

     http://www.gaylordhotels.com/opryland-home.html?source=www.gaylordopryland.com

It has waterfalls and tropical trees and flowers inside the hotel as well as a restaurant that rotates while you dine. There is a river with a flatboat you can ride on and there are tons of shops on the inside. It is legit.

As far as kid friendly activities I got nothing. I went to Nashville to visit the bars and drink. I saw a few museums while there and went to the Grand Old Opry but a kid would hate that. The hotel would probably be okay for a kid though. Lots to look at and do, it stays pretty loud in the common areas so no one would bat an eye at a toddler running around.

  • This restaurant is right outside of Nashville and was recently featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  Try their redneck taco.  (or if it sounds gross, don't... their BBQ is still damn good)  http://www.martinsbbqjoint.com/nolensville

Grand Ol' Opry is always good, but I actually recommend checking local bars around Nashville and checking out who is playing.  You can get some surprising finds.

And yeah, that hotel that just got posted is amazing.

For kids, the meerkats from Meerkat Manor are actually from the Nashville zoo.

And honestly, for shopping, I think Opry Mills is just about as fun as some of the other downtown Nashville areas.

Pretty fun little kids' area here: http://www.nashvilleshores.com/

Historic downtown Franklin, where my parents live, is BEAUTIFUL.  They have a lot of reenactments and stuff there.  The Belle Meade plantation is pretty cool.  Country Music Hall of Fame.

I'm pretty serious about that BBQ joint though

  • all my tourist attractions always revolve around food
  • You guys are awesome.

Rochella, that pic of D is amazing.

  • I've been to Nashville before in the past, but it was to visit some friends who lived there, so we stayed at their house. Never been with a kid in tote. We are looking at staying at a lakehouse instead of in a hotel, so we can enjoy some nature and not be cramped up in a hotel. I'm kind of uncertain about this though since we might not be happy not being downtown. The lakehouse is 30 minutes from downtown, is the traffic so congested that this seems like a bad idea?

I've never been to Opryland or the Opryland hotel. We just went to the bars and to a Sounds game. I'm not a fan of country music, so I mean, it's not really my scene, but the river and downtown seemed nice. Is Opryland far from the downtown area?

Rochella, have you ever eaten at a pizza place called Paisianos? I believe that was where we ate and the pizza was delish. I was searching to try to find it and I think this was the place. It had movie posters all over the place, does this sound familiar?

  • Country Music Hall of Fame is worth a Visit

A block away is Tootsies. Live country music, legendary place. The band changes every 30 minutes. During the day you could stop in with a toddler... I think.

    Jacks BBQ.

Turn all 3 into one afternoon of fun!

Only been once and stayed at the Gaylord Opryland which I'd recommend.

Where should we stay? Specifically, what area?    Opryland Hotel is most definitely amazing!! Beautiful place..... Flameful, but we walked through even though we weren't staying there. I plan to get our rooms there next time.
Where should we eat?    We really liked Demo's.... ***'s Last Resort is also fun.
What do we need to see / do?   Not sure how old your kids are but the Parthenon was beautiful...

    Kid-friendly, plz.
