Dog friendly resort/vacation home rentals

I know this has been posted before but it looks like the old posts don't exist...

We're looking for someplace to go for a long weekend that will allow our 100 lb. rottie mastiff that we just adopted.

Other requirements:

6 hours drive or less, doesn't have to be MN

Somewhat secluded or at least not on top of other cabins. We want someplace we can sit by a lake with cold drinks and not deal with people, noise, phones, etc.

Re: Dog friendly resort/vacation home rentals

  • We rented this place for a week in August so I don't have a review yet, but it's only $10/day to bring dogs.

  • Ooh, that looks cozy and the beach looks great! I'll let you know if we end up staying there. We want to go in early July.

  • Please do! The beach and having dogs allowed are the big reasons we chose it!

  • We stayed at the Gunflint Lodge last winter with our pup.  But the cabins are closer together.  However, no cell service or internet unless you're in the main lodge.

There was actually a Crowd Cut deal last week or the week before. I don't know why we didn't get it. We're not very bright sometimes.

We found a place right on Lake Superior that doesn't require a weekly rental, allows dogs at no extra charge and is somewhat secluded. It's tough for me to take more than a few days off at a time so this one is perfect.

Can you share the name?  We loved Gunflint Lodge, but would love a more secluded place to just destress and relax.

  • This is the one on Lake Superior.  http://www.vrbo.com/24552

ETA: Here are the others that I found that require a canoe or other boat to access the cabins. Some are more rustic that others. They look amazing but there's no way I'm getting into a canoe with our big dog....she's not exactly graceful or agile.
