Balcony Privacy

My husband and I just moved into a new apartment on the first floor right beside the entrance so we have lots of people walking past. During the day the light reflection gives us some privacy but not much, and I feel I can't enjoy my balcony with all the people. I need a way to give some privacy buy not like bamboo or anything heavy I still want the breeze. Right now my only thoughts are plants. The building is a little bit rough so I think curtains might look odd. Any help would be great. Thank you.

A pic would be very helpful.

  • Roll up shade that you could let down when you want, curtains or sheers that you could mainly keep to the side, a movable screen that you could open or close as you want (like the kind people dress behind), what about hanging beaded curtains or room dividers.  Hanging plants
