My baby is due in september, Im wanting to be put back on birth control after the baby is here. But i cant seem to remember to take my pill so any suggestions on what kind of birth control?? thanks
Re: Birth control options???
Lots of suggestions for birth control.
1) Talk to your doctor.
2) Take their suggestions.
I'm using the NuvaRing now and I love it. I never forget about it and you can't feel it at all, unless its in wrong.
I am on the nuva ring, have been for several years now and I love it.
Of course I would suggest contacting your doctor for suggestions, but I do recommend the nuva ring.
There are many different kinds of birth control. Depending on how long you want to wait to have kids, there are a lot more options.
Like the implant, it goes right under the skin in the arm, that would keep you from getting pregnant for 3 years. Then there are IUDs one last 5yrs and another 10yrs. There is the pill, take it everyday, but like you said if you forget that is hard. There is a shot that you get every 3 months, makes things easier if you forget.
Lots of different options, of course everything has its side effects, but if you want to learn more about each of these going to webmd could probably help you look at options or talking to your doctor, they would probably be able to find the one that works best for you.
First and foremost you should talk to your doctor about your options. There are a lot of different types of birth control pills out there, so my advice to you would be to pick one that has more than one function. Your doctor should be very well informed about what birth control pills do what.
If you have a hard time remembering to take the pill daily (that was a problem for me too) I would suggest the Depo Vera shot, I really liked it because I didn't have to think about taking the pill every day.
Mirena (I.U.D.) is also a good way to go if you want something you don't have to think about taking every day. The thing to keep in mind is there are some side effects with any type of birth control you decide to use.
If you don't want to worry about taking anything I would suggest using condoms. Hope this helps.
Talk to your doctor. It's really a personal choice. And be frank with your doctor- say "yeah,no, that schedule doesn't work for me" or what not. It took me a long time to learn this lesson.
I chose to do the copper wire IUD. I've had issues with using hormonal birth control.
I wouldn't say use that. It's just another option. I spent a good while during my pregnancy researching birth control options so I would be ready to discuss them with my doctor when the time comes.
For me the IUD worked for what I needed, however I do find my periods are much heavy and far more uncomfortable then they used to be. Some people aren't willing to deal with that. Some days I think maybe it wasn't a good choice.
Birth control is a very personal choice. I would suggest talking to your OB at your next visit. Maybe get some information regarding birth control. Chances are they will discuss it with you during your post baby check-up. But I think it's always a good idea to be prepared in advance.
The bolded part is all true for me. Hormonal didn't work out due to various reasons, the "last straw" was the intense, horrible migraines that I started getting with the pill. I love the Paragard (copper IUD), and as PP mentioned my periods are heavier and more "crampy". My doctor informed me of this as a possible side effect. TBH, though, the cramps and heavy periods are a WELCOME thing after what I went through with BCP the last 2 years.
