I am looking into starting to take yoga classes. I was hoping I could get some suggestions from you guys on what brand mat to purchase. I am completely new to yoga so any suggestions would be super helpful. Also, are there any other beginner "supplies" that you think I would need? TIA!!
Re: Yoga?
hi and good for you!! all you really need to show up is a mat and a water bottle. when you're just starting out a regular old inexpensive one from target or a sporting goods store is fine. when you've done it a while and know you will continue go and get yourself a more expensive one. if you want to work on it a bit before you go pick up a beginner yoga dvd to learn some of the poses before you get to class.
i also like to bring a hand towel with me. my hands always get sweaty and slip and if we do any poses while laying on the mat i like to roll it and put it under my head.
Yeah - definitely just get a cheapie Gaiam one from Target or something like that. You don't need anything fancy, regardless of how long you've been practicing. Some people prefer more cushioned mats, but that's completely a personal preference. If you're not very flexible, you may want something like a block or a strap, but if you're taking classes at a yoga studio, then they should have those supplies on hand.
I love yoga, I hope you have a good introduction!
enjoy your yoga!!!
I second this!
Thanks a lot for your feedback for towel ,from Now ,I will also go with towel, to get hands free of sweat while laying on the mat.
