fairly new gardener

hi everyone! i have had a vegetable garden for 4 years now and have not been very successful. i had a few questions. my tomato plants are big and beautiful. they have some tomatos on them but when they get a little bigger they start turning black on the bottoms. someone told me this was a rotting diesease. has anyone else had this problem and if so can you do anything for it?  also my squash plants are huge and have lots of blooms. i have about 10 plants and so far it has only produced 2 squash. why is it not producing with all those blooms? is this some kind of defiency? thanks for listening!! hope everyone has a wonderful day!
