Not sure what to do with my cat
My cat is almost 15, H and I just got married last month and Sweetie has been living with H for about two months now. We introduced her and H's very young cat slowly, I feel like I have tried everything. I got a call from my mom today, her cat misses Sweetie and Sweetie has been so stressed out with dealing with Dakota trying to pounce on her that i'm worried about her.
Would it be the best thing for her to back to where she was more familiar?
Re: Not sure what to do with my cat
only you can really make that decision. From the info you told us here you make it seem like you think she would be better with your mom, but I can't say much more than that.
Things between cats can get better, they can also get worse. Who knows where that will go.
as PP has said, this is entirely up to you. it sometimes takes cats a lonnnggg time to get used to each other. (fwiw, with my 12 y/o resident cat and adopted 6 y/o, it took about 3 months for them to be in the same room without growling and hissing matches. It took about 6 months for them to lay down on the same piece of furniture...(bed, couch, etc)...) So as long as both cats are in good health, both cats are eating, and neither cat is physically hurting the other, I say wait it out if it's important to you that Sweetie stays with you.
Good Luck with your decision--and congrats on your new marriage!
Thanks, Dakota is doing pretty well but Sweetie has started having potty issues, so I think it might be best at this point for her to go to my mom's. I will really miss her though.
Thanks marriage is wonderful but such a HUGE adjustment!
