Liquid soap for very sensitive skin - "sensitive skin" soap is breaking me out

The older I get the more sensitive my skin is becoming.  There was a time I could use any kind of soap with no problem.  Well not any more.  In the past few years I've had to switch to sensitive skin soaps (Dove) and now more recently, I find that they are beginning to irritate my skin and cause rashes.  I have no idea what to try now.  I'm wondering if I should try switching to baby wash.  That's gotta be the most gentle thing out there right??????  Any suggestions?????

  • you might try going to a dermatologist to make sure it is actually a reaction to the soaps and not another condition. i had been having a terrible time with dry, flaky skin around my eyes and tried a gazillion creams before finally going to my dermatologist. he diagnosed in 20 seconds and gave me a sample cream that cleared it up in 2 days.

to answer your question, though, i use Desert Essence-the organic gentle version NOT tea tree varieties. the gentle is made from apple juice and coconut oil  but still cleanses amazingly well.

Ohhh, man. If the gentle versions are anywhere as awesome as the tea tree was for my irritated skin, I vote for trying DE too. Does Nature's Gate have a face wash? Their lotion lines are very gentle.

  • I too have sensitive hands. I am allergic to all kinds of dish soap, but the kind that I find works the best for me and doesn't leave my skin dry, itchy, and irritated is Ivory Liquid Soap. They also make Ivory soap in a bar.
  • There is a product called Sooth that you can use for your face and body and it is a miracle wash. It is for sensitive skin and actually helps your skin to be less sensitive with each wash. Go to : rparmelee.myrandf.com and check it out. You can order as a preferred customer and get 10% off. It also has a 100% money back refund if you do not like it!!! It is worth a try!!!!!
  • My favorite is Avalon Organics CoQ10 Cleansing milk in the purple bottle. Its not for sensitive skin per se but has been very very gental on my skin. For a moisturizer I use Heritage Rosewater and Glycerin Spray. That's all it is is rosewater and glycerin and seems like there is no way it will moisturize but it does a wonderful job especially for skin prone to breakouts.

  • What about Cetaphil?  It's not organic or fancy... you buy it at the grocery or CVS.  My son has severe eczema, and it's the only "soap" he can use.
  • Also - be careful with baby washes... a lot of them have fragrances and/or a chemical that makes them suds/foam up... a major irritant for sensitive skin.
