pre-P90X?

I'm currently pregnant with my second child and very out of shape. Before my 1st and while I was pregnant with him, I was an avid runner--2 - 3 half marathons a year. I ran one when he was about 10 months old, hurt my knee (ITB syndrome), and never fully got back into the swing of things.

But now that I'm nearing the end of my second (and probably last) pregnancy, I can't wait to get back into shape. I will run, but I also want to do some sort of all-over body conditioning program like P90X or Crossfit, something like that. But I'm not willing to pay for a Crossfit gym ($160/month in my town!) and I know I won't be ready to start P90X right away. Is there a P90X Light anyone would recommend? Sort of like a C25K for overall conditioning?

Thanks!

  • I just finished P90x - and you can kind of do what you can and move at your own pace. So I don't see why you couldn't just jump right in and do it! Just start slow - and don't push yourself beyond what you think your body can handle!

  • I'm doing ChaLEAN Extreme (a beachbody program) right now and I love it!  I wasn't ready to tackle P90X and this is just the right amount of strength training and cardio.  Within just 10 days, my DH noticed my arms and butt!

I've written a little about it on my blog: http://thoughtsformerfatgirl.blogspot.com/

I think Power 90 was the predecessor to P90X.  It's not as intense so it may be better for you.

  • Tony Horton came out with Power 90 first and it is supposed to be the starting point. P90X stands for Power 90 Extreme.
