Would this be weird in the summer?

Okay.. so this is my silly question of the day.

I have a second interview tomorrow for a new job. I've had the luxury of working from home for many years so I don't have a lot of clothes that are business-appropriate. I have a pair of really nice long black pants, my Cole Haan leather heels, and a light quarter-sleeve gray cable knit cashmere sweater. (during the first interview I got to see the other workers and deem my outfit appropriate for tomorrow) HOWEVER.. since it's the middle of June, would the sweater be too much? It's really light.. but it does have a cable knit and it's quarter-sleeved.

I'm laughing at myself right now because I just KNOW I'm over thinking it.. but I'm just so nervous! lol

Re: Would this be weird in the summer?

  • I don't think so.  Professional dress is always more covered up and of course it will be air conditioned anyway.

  • I don't have any issue with a 3/4 sweater for professional dress in summer, but I would always wear a jacket to an interview.

  • I wish I could but at this time I don't own a jacket like that nor can I afford one, so I'm trying to make do with what I have. :)   Plus, when I went there on for my first interview everyone was wearing jeans, it's a casual environment.
  • what did you wear for the first interview?

  • I wore the same pants and shoes, with a collared button down shirt tucked in.
  • Then the sweater sounds fine.

    I agree. Good luck!!!

  • I second/third the sweater, based on what you are describing it's fine. I usually like to be over dress than underdress, but if everyone is in jeans, and you are wearing slacks, it should be totally fine.
  • I agree with everyone else, it's fine.  It's not like it's a full-on mohair turtleneck, lol.  Sounds completely appropriate, don't worry and good luck! :)

  • I don't think it's too much.  IMO professional attire can more easily go from season to season. Good luck!

Go to a second hand store like Goodwill or ARC.  There are some good finds, and it is way better than being underdressed!
