How are you getting them? I want to prevent ever getting this or when the toenail falls off.
This has not happened to me but I am getting a little more intense into running and need to know what to look out for.
Re: Black toenails
I got them when I was training for a half marathon. My two little toes next to my big toe turned black, but never fell off. They basically took most of the trauma because they are longer than my big toe and would hit the shoe when I would run.
My big toes always get cloudy and thickened nails from running and only once have turned black because I dropped something that hit the nail. It literally peeled off one day when there was enough new nail growth underneath it.
I'd make sure you are wearing proper fitted shoes with a toe box size that is appropriate for your feet. If they are too big, your foot will slip and bang into the front of the shoe. If they are too small, they will bang into the front of the shoe as well.
A black toenail is basically a blood blister under your toe nail.
