Anniversary gifts

I know that it is pretty early to be thinking about anniversary gifts, but I am!!  Are any of you??

I remembered someone talking about the book "What I love about you" as a wedding gift and thought it'd make a nice first anniversary gift.  If I do that, I need time to work on it, because it's just a lot of prompts to answer.  So I was looking at buying it, but now am having second thoughts.  I think it's sweet and might be fun for H to look at.  But I just suddenly feel worried that he'll think it's kind of dumb.

Here's the link for it at Amazon: linky.

Thoughts?

Re: Anniversary gifts

  • I have!  I know a couple that has, from their first anniversary, done something involving the traditional wedding gifts for each year.  The first one is paper.  And, in October the Packers (my team) will be here playing the Colts (his team), so I think that would be a fun anniversary present to us!  (tickets = paper, right?)

I do think that book is cute though (hey, book = paper, too!).. I like things like that. Smile  It might be a little cheesy, but DH wouldn't be surprised with cheesiness coming from me, haha.

  • It doesn't look like we'll be able to go to London in August for the Olympics --- boo! so many unexpected expenses with the new house. I'm the type of person that freaks out/gets nervous when we start to dip too much savings. So unless we get some unexpected income, we're gonna have to postpone our trip till October and it'll be our anniversary trip so we can build back up our savings If that's the case, then that will be our gift to each other. I still might DH something small though, not sure what yet - the book sounds like a cute idea!

  • I like the idea of the book. I'm sure I'd have to get it now to start filling it out because knowing me, I'd get a little tired after a while and then put it down and not pick it up again. I've thought about concert tickets or tickets to a Saints game (not my idea of a fun anniversary--I hate the Saints), but H is limited in the amount of time he can take off of work and also what days because everyone that works for him has a bday around that time and wants off. It blows. So, I'm a little unsure what I will wind up doing.

  • It looks like a good idea to me. I think it's sweet.

  • GO PAC!

That look like a very sweet book to get. I bet he would really appreciate it and enjoy looking at it.

I think timepieces are a more modern first anniversary gift. So a watch, clock, sun dial would work. I haven't thought of what to get H yet. I do have his Christmas gift figured out already though. I am sure he is clueless and I will need to start dropping hints on what he could potentially buy for me for our anniversary.

  • I started looking a couple of weeks ago and coming up with ideas.  I know I want to do something with paper, and this could be it. Before I was thinking about writing things down for the first year that I loved then you add to it yearly.this might be a better idea though :)

  • I like the idea of tickets!!  If we had a bigger budget, that'd be a great idea for my H.

Erollis: The other day on Pinterest I found a really pretty watercolor painting of a peacock.  My H likes to paint, so I already let him know that would be a lovely anniversary gift.  Hehe...

Lynxbbgirl:  This is another cute idea I found on Pinterest (what would I do without that site??):  http://peppermintcreative.com/blog/2011/01/52-things-i-love-about-you-deck-of-cards-album/

I think I will go with the book.  It'll be fun for him to read and fun to look back on in the future.  Thanks everyone!

  • A few weeks ago the in-laws were visiting and made a comment about not having a wall clock in the living room and we should get that for each other as an anniversary gift (the clock we had was a cheapy that we had during college years and finally broke). I knew the traditional gift for one year was paper, but didn't realize the modernized gift is a clock.  Maybe we could figure out a way to make an inscription on the back of the clock to indicate it was for our first anniversary.

  • I just love that card idea! I may do it but keeping it hidden from H would be a challenge.
