I hate trying to figure out what the right amount tip is!
We are having a patio, mulch and some sod put in. There are three guys working and they will probably be here 3 total days. How much should we tip them? They are not the owners of the company.
Re: Ugh, how much to tip?
Cold drinks - maybe some cookies and this is me too!
I would do this.
I agree. If they did a great job, I would highly recommend them to others and work with them again should I have the need for their services.
I don't tip the plumber, the electrician, the pest guy, I don't tip the kid at mcdonalds or target or walmart or trader joes, etc.
If they are friends doing you a favor - then yeah tip them something.
IF they are a professional company then you tip nothing because they are being paid for their service. Now if ... while there ... they help you do something non-related to what they are being contracted to do (oh I don't know - help you re-arrange some heavy lawn furniture) then give them a little tip.
Because it is their job and I assume you are paying a nice price to have that work done. Why not tip the worker at mcdonalds or walmart or target then? They are on their feet all day dealing with crazy people and sometimes not in the best working conditions and they sure as heck get paid a whole lot less than the guy doing landscape.
ITA with above on not tipping and how we're "tip happy".
Along with a cold drink, maybe come out with some ice cream bars or Popsicles in the afternoon. Sounds silly, but would be a nice 5 minute break from the heat.
I work in the landscape industry and I have been outside every day, sweating my assoff, this week.
Ditto. And well said.
