My ash tree has lost a ton of leaves (and continues to lose leaves) over the past 3 or so weeks. I believe it is anthracnose but I'm not certain. Does anyone know anything abiut this...I can't seem to find what the cause (in this case) could be. In addition, it doesn't seem to be letting up and it appears there's nothing I can do but wait it out and hope for the best. Is this assumption correct? If you've experienced this, how long did it last and did it completely resolve itself?
The tree is very well established...20+ yo and (otherwise) seems to be in good condition. I did mulch around the tree and plant lillies last spring (2011) but the tree was fine throughout all of last year.
Re: Ash Anthracnose
It was actually one of the first things we found when researching. We're in CT though with no cases (as of yet)...and, the pattern of loss, combined with no additional damage has us thinking anthracnose...
We're also overwhemed with woodpeckers who, I know, would be feasting on the ash as they do our dead pines!
