Where is your favorite place to visit for the day?

SO and I (ok, well, me....and I'm dragging SO along.;)) are looking for a new place to spent a Saturday. So what are some great towns, things to do, etc.? If you have "up north" options, even better, because we live just south of Traverse City!

  • Petoskey is always nice - my friends live there. If you were on the east coast, I would know more places for you to go to. LOL

Where at south of TC are you? I'm 30 minutes south in Manton. I am always a huge fan of Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and any small towns along M-22. I would recommend a road trip starting in Onekama and taking M-22 as far north as you feel like driving. You'll have beautiful Lake Michigan by you the whole way and there are a ton of cute, small towns along the way :)

  • Anything along the coast from Ludington around to Mackinaw is a highlight for me.  From here that's at least a whole weekend, but for you, any point therein could be done pretty short-term.  We really want to go to Charlevoix again sometime.
