Pls help me negotiate a contract (little long)

I need help dealing with what I feel is an unfair situation at work. I will try to explain a little background: I work  3 day a week  for a non profit that runs a contextual education program for students.  There is a managerial part  (what I am doing now) and and educational part to the contextual ed program. I have an opportunity to get started this fall in becoming certified in the educational part. It will function something like a residency where you are paid for school and training.  Right now,  I make  $35,000 for 3 days a week and the training (2 days week) would be on top of that and on my own time. THe thing is, for the other people who are coming in from outside to learn the educational part, for them the training is on work time and they are paid for it. Some will be making less, but still, each of us is paid according to our experience and ability.   I think they offered it to me because I will be making more than most of the other students, but I would argue that is because I have a great deal more experience and have been doing this work for 7 years now?? How do I professionally say that this seems like an insulting offer to ask me to do for free what others are getting paid for?

  • Maybe I don't fully inderstand it but it sounds like they restructured the way they offer the position b/c paid training sounds better even if the salary is the same/less. I wouldn't say anything and just be happy to be making more than the others.
