I use lots of sugar on everything. I think I am developing a sugar intolerance. One of my goals is to cut out Dr Pepper. The problem, I have a hard time drinking water. It is so plain. I've tried flavor packets. It again the sugar in it makes me sick. I get thirsty and end up going back to pop.
What are some healthy drinks to have around the house?

Re: Addicted to sugar
I add cucumber slices to my water or lemon or lime wedges. I find that helps give it some kind of flavor without the added sugar.
Maybe try making your own juices instead of store bought as they can contain lots of additives and sugars you don't really need.
Have you tried stevia?
I don't know if it's the sugar that's doing it but in fact the high fructose corn syrup. If you're thirsty try tea or fruit juice (non concentrate, fresh squeezed by yourself is always best). But not liking the "plainness" of water is mostly psychological.
I understand how you feel. I'm a Coke drinker and had a terrible time giving it up. I also have a hard time staying away from anything sweet. I love to bake and that's just dangerous. A couple of months ago I decided to do something drastic in the hope of eliminating the harmful items in my daily diet routine so I tried Joe Banks' juicing fast. WOW! I couldn't believe that I was able to cut out soda but even more surprising was the fact that I didn't crave the sugar and I also didn't go through caffeine withdrawal. I had so much more energy and I lost ten pounds on my three week juice fast. After finishing the juicing fast I found my sugar tolerance had lessened so I'm enjoying a much healthier eating style. I drink lots of water and I'm getting ready to do another fast but only for ten days this time.
If you get a chance check out Joe Banks at fatsickandnearlydead.com
It make a big difference for me.
Former coke addict. I now drink vitamin water zero, milk and water ONLY (with the occasional alcoholic drink).
Vitamin water is what saves me. I occasionally drink a coke (maybe two per month) just to remind me why I stopped in the first place.
My Ovulation Chart

I like flavored sparkling water (seltzer). The carbonation makes a big difference, for some reason.
I also like Hint water - it has a little hint (uh) of flavor but without any sugar or calories.
Licorice tea has a sweet flavor - you could try icing that.
Also, though - your tastes really will change if you give them time. I used to have a huge soda addiction, and it really doesn't do much for me anymore. I drink plain water constantly now, and didn't used to like it at all. Give your body some time to adjust.
