Someone abandoned a newborn kitten in my husband's office today. He called animal control, but they didn't return his call before the office closed. With few options, we brought the kitten home. We are trying to keep him warm and trying to feed with kitten replacement milk. This fellow is pretty new - eyes closed, umbilical cord, etc.
We cannot possibly keep him long-term. Even the short-term is rough. We have an 8 week old and two cats and a dog, so adding a newborn kitten is asking for trouble.
If anyone can recommend a rescue or put me in touch with someone who can help, I'd be grateful. We don't want to have to take the kitten to BARC, but will if there are no other options. Please feel free to email me at easjer05 at gmail dot com if you can help or point us in the right direction.
Re: Help in Houston area - Need Cat Rescue
Thanks, zona! We are still definitely looking for a place to take him long term - we've struck out over and over. We'll try that lead. So far, kitten has been doing well - is gaining weight on schedule, eating well after a rough start, and has visibly grown. He is getting quite vocal and strong too, trying to climb out of his box when we join him for feedings. He's a little fighter, and we want him to get to a good forever home (wish we could keep him, he's quite cute! but 3 cats is simply too much for our small house, especially with the new baby).
