Beaches in Kerala
Destinations Kerala is numerous and hence tourists are attracted to Kerala from all over the world. Be it a vacation, honeymoon or adventure trip, Kerala has lots to offer to its visitors. The tourist places vary from beaches, dams, hill stations, and backwaters to wildlife sanctuaries, each place providing entertainment in its own way.
Among the many beaches in Kerala, Bekal beach is one that has always lured tourists. It is about 16 km from Kasaragod town. Another major attraction is the Bekal fort close by, that offers a beautiful view of the Bekal beach.
Another attractive long golden beach is the Cherai beach that is located in Vypin Island and is 15 kms long. The beach is located at a distance of 25 kms from Ernakulam city and is clean and shallow. Recently declared as a tourist spot, the Cherai beach has facilities for sunbathing and swimming. With proper maintenance and safety measures like trained security round the clock, it is suitable for people from all walks of life. It is among the rare places where the lagoon and sea are separated by only a few hundred meters. Barring the rainy season, one can visit the beach at any time of the year.
Marari is yet another beach that derives its name from Mararikulam, which is a small village in Kerala. Here one gets to see the life of local fishermen for whom the sea is their lord. Men go for fishing in the morning while the ladies perform their day to day chores. There are a number of soft sand beaches that can dazzle anybody and make them forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It holds a vast expanse of water, land and numerous palm trees that can make one feel rejuvenated.
