We're first time home buyers so I'm unsure about this. We're closing on a house soon and the sellers pay for our agent. However, is it customary to get anything for your agent when the process is over? We've been very very happy with our agent; he's been extremely helpful, always easy to get a hold of and always gets back to us promptly, and he throws housewarming parties for all his clients who buy homes--buys all the food and sends out the invites for 25 people. I understand this can be networking for him, so I get that part of it is business-related.
Is giving them a card or something to say thank you weird? I just feel like, after him helping us through this process and talking to him almost daily, we should get him a little something at the end of all this, but have no idea if that's typical.
Re: Gift for the buyer's agent?
This! Our agent gave us some wine, and we told him (and will) that we would pass his name on to any of our friends who might start looking in the next couple years. He was a fabulous agent, so we also 'liked' his professional page on facebook.
