Is everyone ok?

That was the most scary storm I have ever witnessed. I hope everyone is ok!

Re: Is everyone ok?

  • That was intense. Luckily, our house only lost power for an hour or so...but of course, I was staying with a friend who lives near the water in Severna Park and they still don't have power. I feel so bad for those without electricity, the heat is so bad!
  • We're okay but still without power. M is at my parents'. It's hot as hell and I miss my shower and working toilet!! (We're on a well, so no power also means no water.)

Yesterday morning I was all "it's an adventure!" but now I'm completely over it. We're supposed to have a huge crowd over for the 4th and don't know if we need to cancel. Obviously we can't keep anything in the fridge/freezer that we would need to buy, can't do much to get the house ready or cook.

SIL's family is supposed to be staying with us starting tomorrow and we may need to cancel that too.

    Ugh.

  • Rags, if you need a place to stay until the power comes back, you are welcome to my guest room. I put out an open invitation on FB too. Its a private guest room with private bath on the main level.

Thank you so much! You are too sweet. We are trying to hold down the fort but if we need to give in we will probably head to my parents', where M is. I really truly appreciate the offer though. You are too kind. :)

  • I have to say that storm was pretty awful. We survived with only a broken American flag pole and two really scared babies. We never lost power in Harford County, but my aunt lives near the airport and she still doesn't have power. When she called BGE they were stating maybe by Friday. Her and I went down to her house yesterday and pulled everything that we could from her deep freeze. I'm just glad  we have a big enough freezer here at the house.

  • That storm was scary.  No downed trees or damage on our property but there were trees and branches down all over the neighborhood.  We lost power for 48 hours, on Saturday I was thinking, We can handle this, it will be fun!  (Ha.)  By lunchtime yesterday our house was almost 90 degrees and I was done, I took the dog to my mom's house for most of the day.  After dinner H and I camped out for a few hours at a local McDonalds that has a wifi connection, lol, we came back around 9:30pm and were about to go sleep when I decided to call 1 more time to see if I could get an outage update and they said it would be on by 1am, but it flicked back on as soon as I hung up.  Just in time to watch the 11pm re-run of True Blood!  If anyone is still without power, you have my sympathy!
  • We still don't have power. We've been staying with my IL's and SIL's family is there as well b/c they have no power. I've never been so happy to go back to work on a Monday morning!
  • HarCo seemed to escape a lot of the serious damage, thankfully. We got slammed during the hurricane last year and I can vividly remember being utterly miserable in the aftermath - my heart goes out to everyone still without power.

  • The storm was scary!  I've never seen so much lightning, and the wind was so strong against our windows that I thought we had a window open.  We were very fortunate to only have our power flicker, and we didn't loose any branches or anything (I think most of our weak branches went with the storms that spawned tornadoes last month).  I hope all of you who still don't have power get it back soon, and are able to have a cool place to stay in the meantime.
