Venice

DH and I are planning our first child-free vacation since having children.  We are going to Venice.  Anyone recommend a hotel there??  There are so many options and I don't want to pay a ton only to receive a crummy room.  I have been to London and Paris, so I know what European hotels are like.  I just want something with a convenient location and good accomodations.  Thanks!!!

We stayed at the Ca Dei Dogi and loved it.  It is right by all the major sites, has amazing rooms and breakfast and the price isn't bad for what an amazing hotel it is. Let me know if you have any questions about it.  You can also check it out on tripadvisor.com for pictures and other things.

We stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast called Gio and Gio that was within a ten minute walk to St. Marks Square. I have an entry in my travel blog on the B & B here.

Depending on how much time you have in Venice I highly recommend that you visit some of the islands near Venice including Murano and Burano.

we stayed at the Hilton Stucky Mulino. It's across from the island and a really short (free) ferry ride over. Because of that, there was a lot of extra room that we might not have had in a hotel on the actual island.
